look at the line-up and it's a free festival...why complain about MGD, an alterna-weekly (Real Detroit), a techno-club (Motor Lounge), and an art gallery (C-Pop) paying all these amazing artists to perform? sponsors paying guys like T-1000, Green Velvet, Brian Gillespie, Mike Huckaby, Heather Hart/Adam-X, Boo Williams, Frankie Knuckles, Eddie Fowlkes, Juan Atkins to perform and it won't cost me a dime? lmao--how cool is that?
this will only be the 3rd year for demf, but it's likely to be the first year where the actual festival line-up is competitive with the after-parties/unofficial events...still looking forward to those. as far as carl craig's dismissal, yeah, it was handled badly. but instead of one legend of detroit techno (carl craig) picking the line-up they had a committee of 7 that included Juan Atkins, Alan Oldham and Eddie Fowlkes who picked a lot more detroit/chicago/nyc artists than the prior 2 festivals. i'd like to have seen more drum and bass, electro (esp Adult) and downtempo, but, for this year, this line-up will put smiles on the faces of all who attend. one cool thing about having a corporate sponsor like the Detroit Free Press: they provide plenty of coverage of the event: http://www.freep.com/entertainment/music/demf12_20020412.htm http://www.freep.com/entertainment/music/demf13_20020413.htm -----Original Message----- From: Paul Ihrig [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, April 15, 2002 8:04 AM To: CF-Community Subject: RE: DEMF 2002 This used to be the best coverage of the state of current electronic music. but after last years corporate take over of the event [From Those who started it] it is just another fries & coke event, "would you like that super-sized" i wouldn't waist the time or money to support it. - ______________________________________________________________________ Your ad could be here.
