If that is the case then I think the first book I recommended will only
get you half way there.   Sun's Java forums,
http://forums.sun.com/index.jspa, should get you across the bridge.  My
experience with them is they are very helpful as long as they don't think
you are trying to cheat on your homework and that you put in some effort
to do it yourself first.  They will usually ask for you to cut and paste
your code before they help.

My biggest hurdle when I first picked up Java was Swing.
