For Christmas the kids got one of those little "record something then play it back whenever you like" keychain boxes. Mostly for the sake of sheer stupidity I recorded the "Victory Fanfare" (the music that plays after a successful battle) from "Final Fantasy on it.
For those that don't know here they all are (I used the one from VII if you'd like to know): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glu5wr5LRm4 I started playing it whenever anything happened... my wife would come in and say "I'm making hot chocolate"... FANFARE! "I'm going to turn on the next episode of 'Coupling'"... FANFARE! "I've got a weird pain in my side."... FANFARE! And so forth. I may steal this thing permanently from the kids and take it to work. So very dumb... but I tell you, maybe it's Skinnerian - maybe I've been conditioned by the countless hours I've spent with that franchise - but I don't think I've felt as genuinely happy as I have all day. I must have played the damn thing 380 times today but I still smile a little each time I do. I doubt it'll work for everybody... but it's damn cheap therapy if you ask me.
