I don't really think it is an Us or Them mentality, honestly. I enjoy
discussions with people of differing political and economic views than
my own, including with people on this list.Fine points are made and I
occasionally even learn something in the process.

But yes, the mock-up does represent how I feel about you. Its not
being oblivious. I have little but disdain for your commonly expressed
views and the way in which you express them. I find the willful
ignorance frightening and dangerous. Arrogant? Yes. Unabashedly so.
Arrogance is nothing to be ashamed of. Misplaced arrogance is another
matter. There are areas in which I express a great deal of uncertainty
because I lack the knowledge to be certain. In other areas I am much
more, as you say, arrogant. And that is because I am intelligent,
aware and have a rather decent understanding of those areas.

I know little of your personal life and you very well may lead an
exemplary existence, be a kind and generous man and a fine parent. I
certainly hope that is true. But do believe me when I say that its not
an Us vs Them mentality, I don't paint Republican/Libertarians/Insert
group of your choice with one broad brush and put them all in the same
box. My mocking of you is just for you and the illogical, doctrinaire,
painfully obtuse, wantonly ignorant crap that you spew here.

Yes, its pretty gross isn't it? I'd really rather the inauguration was
a judge, a couple members of congress, a couple members of the media
and family. 10 inaugural balls? Ugh. And I don't think that Obama
should have accepted donations from anyone involved in the bailout.
There are lots of things I don't agree with Obama on. Want to hear me
go off about his selection of Vilsack for Sec. of Agriculture? That
pick makes me want to start hitting the jug of corn ethanol hard.

As for rethinking the bailout, I was on the fence to start with and
said so here. It was a complex set of circumstances and the amount of
money involved was huge. Robert argued quite convincingly that it
sucked up was something we didn't have a choice on. I cautiously moved
my opinion in favor of it because of arguments like his but still felt
bad about it. In the end I felt it could be ok if it was done with
proper oversight and the Bush administration didn't get up to their
usual games of secrecy, absolute power and rewarding rich friends
while fucking over the poor. Thus far they managed to gut or delay
oversight completely and not actually buy the mortgages that they
originally said they would but they haven't been as bad as they could
have been and I think it is too soon to tell if the program has been
at all successful.
