But wouldn't you agree that the "big stuff" priorities are:

1.) National security
2.) Economic security
3.) Progressive/social issues.

The stuff you mentioned is definitely #3, while Obama's inauguration
speech was essentially this:

* Foreign Policy: we'll measure you by what you build.  Fight us and
we'll destroy you, support us and we'll support you.

* Domestic Policy: time to grow up America and start lending a hand to
your fellow citizen cause we're gonna need to to pull out of this
economic mess.

Thus the ironic funny of the Daily Show piece was how much better it
is to hear the same big stuff priorities when you hear it from someone
competent like Obama rather than the ignoramus that's been in the
Whitehouse for the last decade.
