Since its for production/sale quality video, definitely go with DV. Saves all those
darn A-D-A-D lossy transfers. And its cool.

As for the projector, I've had great luck purchasing used projectors from rental
houses and hotel/motel management companies.

Sounds like you know what you're doing, so I won't ask many more questions.

My favorites for these big jobs have been Electrohome and Sony. But my info is fairly
dated on hi-lumen projectors (10,000 lumens+). I was installing/using them back when 3
guns was the norm.

If you can figure out where to install it, I might suggest renting/borrowing a 2000
lumen model and 3200-3500 lumen model, to see how much you really need. If you can use
one of these, you might pay $4000-$5000 new, or under $1500 used.

Also, with that long a throw (90'), you need to make sure it can focus down that small
and far.

Once you decide on a model, contact the local a) rental shops and b) repair houses to
see when/if they sell off old/repaired models.

My last three projectors (800+) each came for less than 500 bucks. And they are all
still working great.

My Electrohome (originally $25,000) I got for under 500, but I had to replace one gun
and buy new lenses for all three.

As for the camera controls, how smooth do the pan/zoom need to be. This can get WAY
up there in price.
What type of movements are you expecting (slow pan across crowd? follow a speaker
around an audience?...)

Subject: Re: Where to find good Projectors? Digital Video Cameras?

Cool.

Why a DV camera?
Not too sure...

They are going to be much more expensive than a similar analog->PC solution.

Is this for production-quality video, or a neato web-cam?
Production Quality Video... we sell some training for ministers and such and
need the quality for a video not for the web.

Do you need to control the camera from the PC?
    Locally, or via the Web?
Joystick-type action, or is this for on-screen control?

Joystick or on-screen controls

What about audio?

No the audio will be coming from mikes already in place.

As for the projector, how big does it need to project?
This is so you can
  1. Put the words up for songs
  2. Play announcements
  3. Other uses too.

What amount of light will be in the room when projecting?
   Full daylight?
   Filtered light?
   Florescent lights/Incandescent lights?
Only used at night/with the windows closed/lights turned off?

Bright Light so I will need a high lumens projector. Plus depending on
where it can be mounted...

Back of room (90 feet from wall) or from ceiling (need for connection to it
form back of room and any enhanced signal.

What type of screen/wall will it project on?
Almost white Wall it should be ok.

Where in the room will the screen be?

Where in the room will the projector be?

What level of sophistication does the operator have/need?

Does the projector need to be movable? Remote control-able?
Yes Remote Control-able

And of course the important question - budget?
Budget is adjustable to meet our needs... we want a good deal but we need a
quality job so we will pay for a good job.
