There seems to be a common thread between these two threads and it appears to be a discontent for our legal system. I'm fairly pessimistic about the whole thing. I once got slightly rear-ended. And I mean slightly. A woman bumped my backend when a left turn light went green and she thought it was our light. Stupid mistake but didn't so much as scratch my car. She was terribly apologetic and I basically said 'no harm, no foul.' End of scenario. Later that evening I got a call from a lawyer telling me that he witnessed the whole thing and was willing to represent me for a percentage of the settlement. That pissed me off. One, because this guy had some nerve, and two, he must have gotten my number via some questionable means because I'm assuming he got it from my license plate. I told him no thanks and hung up. He didn't give a crap about me or my rights, he was trying to make a buck. That's what pisses me off. It's one thing if I felt that I was wronged and I called him, but for him to pursue me like that really taints the system.
