As an Obama supporter I think you are overselling the situation in order to engage in unwarranted self-pity. Obama didn't position himself as the second coming of Jesus, nor did the people that supported him. That was right-wing bloviators. If people on the left overindugled in flights of fantasy about what he might be able to do, it was because they felt like a wrongly imprisoned man walking out of solitary confinement after 8 years of sensory deprivation.
Yeah, Obama is going to fuck up. I said it before the election, I'll say it again. Overall, I think he's doing a pretty decent job. For everyone like Geithner he's got someone like Hilda Solis. It's a mixed bag. I'm not particularly happy about his upcoming pick of Gregg for Commerce either. But he's trying to follow through on most of his promises and that includes things like including Republicans that I don't particularly like in his cabinet. I wonder about the vetting team though. Was the tax stuff not caught before? Or did they just think they could sweep it under the rug and/or push it through?Obama had a lot more discipline in the campaign. I wonder if things got out of hand during the transition, trying to keep too many balls in the air at once. Still, I'll happily trade Daschle for the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. That was an awesome first bill to be signing.
