If it passes, it will probably go into effect with the new fiscal year on July 1. But they could implement it sooner depending in the legislation. The proposed increase is from .65% to 1.15% of the value of the vehicle. Sales tax is also going up 1% which will put it at 9.25 for most of the state and 9.75 in LA County.
