Unfortunately,any diplomatic discussoin will be held with the leaders of
Iran (or people apointed by the leaders of Iran) and not with the general
population of Iran. So, it doesn't really matter if the views of the leaders
reflect the desires and views of the Iranian people, doe it?

Just because I do not think it will work does not mean we shouldn't try.  I
have been known to be wrong (more often than I care to admit). I just think
that those people who think diplomacy is the 'silver bullet' in this case
need to rethink who we are dealing with.
