I've been skiing for about as long as you have been snowboarding, and like
you, I do not wear a helmet. I am, if I do say so myself, an excellent
skiier. Up until two years ago, I would hit the slopes at least 15 times a
year, sometimes more.

Went skiing a few weeks ago, saw some bumps from the lift that looked
awesome, and dove in on my next run. It was all deceptive rock-hard ice
bumps/chunks, and I subsequently fell. Hard. Bruised my back pretty bad,
and I felt like I broke a rib for days after that. If I had fallen and
taken any of those pointy bumps to the head, I bet I would be typing with a
stick in my teeth right now, if at all.

I am seriously considering getting a helmet for those just in case moments.
Casey, I'd suggest the same for you. Saying you "know how to fall,
therefore can't get hurt" (my words, I know, paraphrasing) is like saying
you know how to drive, therefore don't need to use a seatbelt. It's flawed
logic.

And, from what my research has been telling me, they aren't your Daddy's
hockey-style helmet either. They are warm, and some of the better ones
really integrate with your iPod well. But you already knew that... :)
