I never said or insuinuated people do it for fun so please don't do that. I think a lot of the reason that people who are on welfare and don't work do it because of bad choices. And they probably don't know how to make a good choice. They didn't have parents or mentors who guided them and taught them how to make a good choice. A few years ago I joined up with a program called neighbors helping neighbors in south Florida to help people for the holidays. So we decided not to buy anything for each other for christmas and spend it all on their family on their thanksgiving and Christmas present for the ladies 6-7 kids. It was heart breaking to see they way they lived so what did we do? We did everything we could to help the girl get a job. My girlfriend at the time took a lot longer to get fed up with it then i did. Excuse after excuse why she couldn't work this or that. We would help them with every excuse yet another one would pop up. And i really think deep down the girl wanted to work but she just didn't know how to make a good choice. That's happened all but one of the times i've tried to help someone out. And the reason i help someone out is because its part of the golden rule and people have helped me out in my life.
Now I'm not saying that i think welfare is bad because for a strech when i was younger we were close to being on it. And for awhile the ex-wife and i were on food stamps becuase she got sick and i had to handle everything. After a couple months we were able to not need it anymore. But for the people who say things like oh i can't get a job because i'll lose my welfare it just is frustrating. And yes the welfare system is messed up and it should be tweaked so that if you are really on the edge of falling into big trouble you should get some help. But eventually we all have to have responsiblity for ourselves. On Fri, Mar 27, 2009 at 8:50 AM, Dana <[email protected]> wrote: > > hehe. $250 a week.
