I've been in Alabama, and trust me, he's right.  The California roads
are the worst I've ever driven, and I've done just about all the
states.  Texas is a close second.  I don't think I-20 through Texas
has been paved since LBJ was president.

 I'm adamant about not supporting any stimulus bill that doesn't
include road paving for I-880. There was recently as bad wreak  near
my house because a driver hit a patch of I-880 so damaged it jerked
the wheel from her hand and her car traveled into the next lane and
into an 18-wheeler.
