I would rather watch the weather channel than American Idol, but in my household, not watching is not an option.
If you miss it, everyone will spend the entire next week describing what you missed. repeatedly. every detail. It is actually less painful to watch it live, since at least I can picture Megan Joy and the good looking judge nekkid.
