(1.) I'm intimately aware of the area and neighborhood where Michelle
O grew up.  Now, in your defense, she's about 1 mile from the tollway.
 So while that's still Southside, it's the "good" part of the
Southside.  But hey, I'll make a bet with you.  Next Friday around,
say, 10pm why don't you start in front of Michelle's house and take a
stroll down the sidewalk.  I bet you don't get 5 blocks before you
voluntarily quit; and I bet you don't get 10 blocks before you
involuntarily quit.  Sammy Southside!  Just remember: a gun doesn't do
you any good if it's still in your pants.

(2.) I ain't white and I grew up on the other side o' the tracks
myself.  It wasn't the ghetto, though, but it was lower-middle class.
Probably 50% of the people in my neighborhood were on welfare and
probably 10% made the majority of their living off of drugs but I
didn't know any that at the time so it wasn't too bad.
