Is my best course of action to first scale them down if they are over a certain width, then from that - crop from somewhere that would be about the center? This would probably work for images larger that x, but then what do I do with images that are smaller than my thumbnail size? Check their size and scale them up to a minimum? I hate to do that because of the loss of quality, but I have to maintain "design and layout integrity" so those photos will just have to do unless the owners decide to re-upload something better. Anyway - am I on the right track here?
