If you can still catch Special Report with Brett Baier, the panel discussion that starts around 00:48 minutes is really good. Bill Kristol, Charles Krauthammer, and Juan Williams on the panel. The question was about how the President spoke of respect for Islam, etc. in his speech. My take- all in all, Williams had the story right - Obama did the right thing by extending an olive branch to the Muslim world, especially in light of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Kristol made a good point, which Williams agreed with, that Obama could have brought up the fact that Americans have fought and died to defend the rights of Muslims just as our people have fought and died for the rights of people the world over. But Williams made an equally good counterpoint that Obama is making a good first step, which I interpret as not trying to push too hard and be seen as overly agressive. Krauthammer, uncharacteristically, played a "good cop" foil to Kristol, which I take it to mean that he basically agreed with what Williams was saying but wasn't quite going to put it that plainly on the air. All in all a great discussion. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;207172674;29440083;f Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:294223 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
