My hope is that we're an intermediate generation before the veneer of
perfection is finally release.

What I mean is that there seems to exist the assumption amongst most
people that they secretly have failings and weaknesses that others
don't have, so if they hide them then nobody will know.

At the same time BECAUSE each person has their failings they, to some
degree or another, look for perfection in others. We demand it from
our politicians. Basically we demand role models.

The politicians (and others) are faking it, of course, but some people
don't seem to realize that ...

This delusion seems more common in the US than in, say, Europe in my
experience. They seem to view people more like we might, say,
Britney: wow! what a freak, what loon, but she seems better now and
that was good song so ok.

Annnnyyyway ... that's all a long way of saying that I'm hoping the
delusion of perfection in others goes away once everyone's private
lives are on the inter-google.

As someone famous said (Russian? ... Checkov?): each family that is
unhappy is unhappy in it's own unique way.
