I've done both. And used perl. And gep/sed/awk solutions.

The fastest, expandable, repeatable solution that wont choke a cf
server that is being used for other things is the datasource solution.

But any will work. The question becomes: how often do you do this, who
is going to run it, how changeable are the formats.
