Well my new position, which Scott helped me form yesterday, is you
should feel free to do what you think is necessary to protect the
country.

Personally I side with the founders who found torture so abhorrent
they were willing to lose wars rather than justify it with law.

Thus what feel is necessary to protect the country is first a set of
moral principles that we shall defend and shall not cross except under
penalty of prosecution.

Thus torture shall be considered illegal and punishable by death.

If a soldier feels that torture is the only way to protect his
country, then he should partake in it knowing it will mean his public
prosecution and execution.

And there should be no shame in that if he feels his actions protected
his country.
