Because besides cheering our favorite driver (#16 for me), this is one
of the other reasons that we watch NASCAR, and especially Talladega.
Talladega is famous for "the big one", a huge accident. Happens every
year. These guys are driving close to 200 MPH and are inches away from
each other, so it is going to happen. The wrecks are usually very
spectacular such as this one. And with all of the safety features that
are incorporated into these cars, the odds of someone getting killed are
very very low. Go to nascar.com and check out the NASCAR 101 section.
They do a great job of showing you the safety features of these cars. In
fact, that is why NASCAR changed the car to the one today. Much much
safer. Makes for a more boring race on some tracks, but the care is safer.
