There are certain rules about what weapons a ship can carry when docking at certain ports. In the article, the security personal had to get their pistols from a safe. Pistols, not rifles, not machine guns, and certainly not missiles. Personally, one good guy with a sniper rifle on a high deck is all the security I'd need.
