Apparently I do have a different level of discourse. If I throw numbers out there, I mean them. Maybe it is the mathematician in me. Numbers imply a certain sense of seriousness, a finality that the wishy-washy world of adjectives does not impart. And you defend many of those numbers you oh so casually toss out, like in the single payer health plan discussion.
You say "these guys get paid a lot for not much in return" and people know that you are stating an opinion. You say "these guys get a million a year in compensation and drive their company into the ground" and people presume you are right about the number and think to themselves, hell yeah, a million a year and this shit is going down? That's fucked up. That's the nature of numbers. Numbers are absolute in a way that words are not. Perhaps you mean them otherwise, but that is not how they are received and you are naive to presume otherwise. Unless you explicitly qualify otherwise, people treat numbers as facts. Maybe you don't spend more than 10 milliseconds thinking about anything you post here. If that is really the case, I'll just filter you out. I like you and tend to agree with you on several things, but I have no particular time for someone who types voluminously without thought. You seem to spend a fair amount of time typing, so I'd hope that you spend at least a reasonably similar amount thinking.
