I've dabbled in it but found it was just easier to get wireless stuff that I
can put on different channels so it doesn't interfere with home network but
gave me the option of tying it into home network. I got some stuff from HAI
(manufacturer) and Smarthome (reseller). They have separate controllers but
I tied mine in eventually with an old laptop because some of the controllers
can be expensive depending on what options you want from it and if you want
the lcd screen remote and if you want to add a stylus to it. Like your
buying a palm or something to run your house.

i have an older home and wife, would like to control some sconces and
such from a switch.
i am thinking instead of spending tons to re-wire, that i might try
the X10 set up.

just curious what i should look out for. the goods & bads..

i saw some software i could control stuff with that looks cool..
