That article does say CO2 was a known factor.  So according to this
article we should be concerned about CO2 increases, man-made or
otherwise.  It also states that there were other factors beyond CO2,
which we should also be concerned about.

I didn't see anything in the article suggesting the known (CO2) and
unknown causes for warming 55 million years ago are mutually
exclusive.
