I woke this morning to a knock on my apartment door. It was a neighbor down the hall, who I have said hi to a half dozen times, but never really met.
She asked if that was my Jeep outside, and if so, would I help her out by driving her to pick up a bed set (no mattress) at the store. Inwardly reluctant, but neighborly, I said sure. So today instead of lunch, I went with her to the store about 12 miles away. Jeep Wrangler, top down, bimini top on, windows open.nice day. Not a problem. We get there, and she disappears for a few minutes, but eventually we get the stuff outside, and start strapping it to my roof rack and in the back seat. About the time we finished, a taxi pulls up. She says "you don't have AC, so I am going back in a cab". WTF? But OK, the truck is loaded. So I start home, with the red taxi following. But it turns off. So I get home, and have to wait for 15 minutes in the parking lot before she gets there. Which overstays the hour I had for lunch. She stopped on the way for lunch. For her. So I unload from the truck, into the grass near the closest door, and said, "There you go, you shouldn't have any trouble getting it upstairs", and head in to get back to work. And she says to me "You are so rude". and stomps inside, leaving her bed in the lawn. And it is still there.
