If you were trying to pry open the door on your own house, and the cops came by and you said 'It's OK, it's my house' and they just said 'OK' and left without asking for ID, you'd be OK with that? If it was me and the cops started to leave without asking for ID, I would call them out on it. That is something Barney Fife would do.
