As it so happens, I walk into Sam's Club today, and there is a guy there selling DirecTV to the passers-by. I ended up getting it from him, since the deal was way too good to pass up. NFL Ticket + Superfan Pkg + All Channels Package + HD-DVR + Install for $80 bucks a month for 5 months. After that, I'll switch to the next tier down and pay $66 a month. Wayyy better than Comcast.
Oh, and I got the Superfan for free, basically, just for being a Sam's member. AND they upgraded my Sam's membership to the "Supermember" (whatever they call it) for 9 bucks for a year - which is perfect b/c my membership was about due to renew anyway. I am going to need to call re: the referral thing - the guy said he didn't think they could honor it at the prices they gave me (blah blah blah), but that I should call CS as soon as I get an account number (after install). Guy comes out Wednesday to install. I cannot freakin wait for NFL season to start now. Also very glad to be somewhat free of the Comcast crapola DVR. I *hate* that box so much. Worst UI ever. And my cable bill will be slashed by like a third. Now I need to look for internet deals. Wish FiOS was offered here.
