I'm afraid you're missing my point. We condemn al-Megrahi being released on 
compassionate grounds since he is dying of terminal cancer. Calley who was 
quite healthy at the time, served only 3 years in prison before being pardoned. 

I'm saying that there is a degree of hypocrisy going on. This country has a 
collective temper tantrum over the release of a dying man so he can spend the 
last few days of his life with family after he served 8 years of a life 
sentance. We release our own people who engaged in atrocities after only 3 
years into a life sentance.

What's the difference?
