BTW that study was based on information over 3 years old. If you want up to date, province by province information on a variety of medical procedures and diagnostics try this link: http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/hcs-sss/qual/acces/wait-attente/index-eng.php
Another up to date source is this site: http://secure.cihi.ca/cihiweb/dispPage.jsp?cw_page=home_e Basically for MRI for 2008 for instance Ontario had a 50th percentile rate of 30 days, and a 90th percentile rate of 95 days for elective non emergency MRI's. For CT scans the rates are 9 days and 40 days. for those (like sam who seems to have a perceptual deficit when it comes to accurately interpreting statistics) it means that half of those getting MRI's in Ontario during the measurement period are getting an MRI in under a month, and 9 out of ten people get it within 3 months. For CT scans half get one within 5 days and 90% get one within 40 days. This does not include emergency cases. You also have to remember that the data also includes those people who live in remote locations, like Red Lake Ontario etc. Where the patient has to travel upwards of 1000 miles to Thunder Bay or Toronto. This adds significantly to the wait times. The majority of US states do not have this problem, so the data is somewhat skewed in the US's favour. Anyhow the links I gave also provide the same information for most surgical, diagnostic and treatment procedures on a province by province basis. They also provide links to all the health related stats for each province, as maintained by law by each provincial health ministry. So if you're going to argue about what system is more effective, how about using the real data instead of stuff that's been cherry picked to death to produce a predetermined outcome. >According to this Feb 2009 study wait time is still a major problem. >http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19377359 > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Want to reach the ColdFusion community with something they want?
