I have seen supposedly fatal wounds look like this. At close range, small arms fire makes quite a mess. If the range is increased, or the bullets are otherwise slowed in a way that doesn't flatten/distort them too much, it is possible for the bullets to enter the body causing a small puncture wound going in, but cause massive internal trauma as the bullets mushroom and fragment and not have enough velocity to exit the body. In such a case, it is possible for very little bleeding to occur outside the body before the heart stops. Most of the bleeding would occur inside the body. The damage could be severe enough that the person goes in to shock/gets knocked unconcious without having much time to react physicly .. basicly, they drop where they are hit and then bleed to death while out. It is possible for the damage to be severe enough and that the internal blood loss occurs fast enough that the heart stops before the extremeties have their remaining blood pumped elsewhere, leaving the blood in such locations to drain down due to the forces of gravity. This can take a few hours.
The picture does look suspicious, but it is possible, depending on on how long after the event the pic was taken. I can probably dig up some pics and maybe a video if anyone wants to see such ugly stuff. Though I can't verify the authenticity of these pics either, it seems a possible explanation. The wide area lens used does look odd though .. I don't know.
