I have not tried to investigate the story but MarketWatch alerts initially
had reports of the Coast Guard firing on a suspicious boat, then the Coast
Guard denying shots were fired and describing it as a training exercise.
They are of course not investigative reporters, but their alerts have been
reasonably accurate in the past. It does strike me as odd that anyone would
have a training exercise on the Potomac on Sept 11 (would it not seem people
might already be nervous?) but what do I know...
