Yes, one should always assume that anything sent out on the internet
is capable of becomming publicly available information.  Even emails
sent directly to someone could eventually become part of the open
internet via some fluke error, bug, or hack.  Who knows what the
future will bring with emails being indexed by GMail and folks blindly
typing their Gmail passwords into Facebook, LinkedIn, and MySpace so
that it can identify "friends".
