Actually I suspect this is a case where you hug the heck out of the kid just glad the the worst things you where imagining did *NOT* happen. At least that was my reaction, when my missing 6 year old son turned up an hour later at his friend's house where he had decided to walk himself to after his first day of school in 1st grade. His time missing wasn't quite so news worthy, but he did have the entire staff of his school as well as friends and family searching for him.
