I'm simply not sure about that. It seems to me that the birther issues
are a veneer overlying the racism.  I think that if Obama was white
but had the exact same background, the same accusations would not
exist. Its only because he is black that you're getting such hysterics
on the extreme right wing.

I did listen to an interesting interview with a birther. The
interviewer did ask if they had the same objections to John McCain,
since technically he was born on foreign soil. The woman had no
problem with that. It was my impression that she was offended over the
effrontery of Obama being black.
