Well ... actually I wish I was that principled.

Truth is I'll probably follow the money no matter what happens. I did
get an offer (for more dough!) to move to another industry but I
turned it down. Probably stupid, but I actually feel like I'm making
a difference.

I do wish you could tie together the failure of the government to
regulate financial products with the fact that health insurance is a
financial product and thus the current problem is really just part and
parcel of the financial crisis as a whole: it's a failure of
government.

At the end of the day I want free and fair competition. I want
bankers to compete, I want health insurance to compete.

Fannie and Freddie don't compete. AIG doesn't compete. Goldman-Sachs
doesn't compete. Health insurance is exempt from anti-trust; they
don't compete.

Don't you see that? It's all the same thing.

And that will never ever change because congress will never vote to
have less power.

So how anyone who knows that would actually vote to give them more
power and money is beyond me ... unless:

1.) They're ignorant of what I just said, or

2.) They're going to profit from more congressional power.

I know you think Medicare is super awesome. But as a guy who deals
with doctor fraud and CMS incompetence every day I can tell you it
isn't.

It's a GREAT basis for a good regulatory agency.

Once you admit the historic failures, you'll see the wisdom of that.
