>From what I heard on the way home, the guy was a major - a psychiatrist named Nidal Malik Hasan. He was disciplined about 5 years ago for preaching Islam to patients and coworkers. He specialized in PTSD and other combat related trauma. Apparently the guy was to be deployed into a combat zone (which one was not mentioned), and was really pissed over it.
I'm surprised that if if he was having problems it wasn't caught before.
