As for the ship, I have been lucky enough to have seen the launch of 3 submarines. It is a great soul-deep feeling to watch that immense machine slide into the water, and hear the roars of the crowd, and know that men built that thing. Pride and awe and amazement and patriotism and fear and a whole host of emotions. Almost like witnessing a birth, as the ship slips into the water.
