I'm on a 1099 contract now.
No insurance and the VA doesn't carry the drug that actually works for me
(cymbalta) and won't continue to give me enough of the sleeping pill that
actually works for me (ambian CR).
Right now it's around $500 out of pocket a month for DRs visit and meds. I
tried to get private insurance but couldn't with my 60% disability rating
and preexisting conditions. I also make too much to get any kind of state
or federal coverage.
Yay me.
I'm still against socialized health care, the VA thing pisses me off, but
it's still my responsibility to get covered. My oldest son has preexisting
conditions too but we were able to get him covered, they just won't pay for
anything related to his existing conditions for a year. So my wife and
younger son are on one private policy, my older boy on another and I'm
uninsured.
The company I'm working for offers insurance but you have to pay for it all,
it's like 1200 a month for family coverage.

Wouldn't most of them be eligible for Medicaid though?
