The good is that I have a new apprentice. I'm really happy about that. Basically, one
of our neighbors is a young married couple who comes over to us Friday nights to play
games (not those types of games you pervs). There's basically 4 couples who get
together regularly for this and it's a great social interaction. The couple across the
street have a tenet who also comes over once in a while. I offered to teach her
programming and she accepted. I think she resembles me in many mental aspects and I'm
really looking forward to trying to teach her. If I can record all my notes (or have
her take notes) while I do it, I'll post them up. So far I've done or am doing:
    basic CF syntax
    client/server
client UI vs. client back end vs. server vs. remote server
Knowledge vs. Logic vs. Intuition and why all are needed
Why we're doing this in the first place
I love teaching. :)
The bad is that I've got a new co-worker and I want to kill him. Imagine someone who
comes in, thinks he's as good as you are, shows no respect, basically takes over the
layout of the project (which he was supposed to do) but does it without asking or
listening to anything the previous programmer has to say. Imagine this person wanted
to do the whole thing in fusebox because "it's free and it'll go faster". Imagine I'm
giving in because I should have no emotional connection to this project being done
right and tight anymore. That's my day. :(
The ugly? Well, there is none. Despite having a pain to work with, life is good. We
have Ben coming to NY in 2 weeks, Website is going to work with MX, Judith is lovely,
the kids are well and life is good.
Has anyone else noticed in the last week or two that they've been happier or things
have seemed better? I don't know why but things just feel "good". The only thing that
could make it better is MM hiring me as community manager. ;)
