In most cases College has a value to those who use the knowledge they gain,
and can find a job in their respective fields.

If you didn't study hard in High School and look at college as just another
4 years wasting your life away behind a book or in class. Take a break from
school and go experience life first, then once you get out there and figure
out what you want to do with your life, then go back to school (if you
haven't already settled into a career path you are happy with and can't
excel without additional education). The world isn't going to end because
your a 21 year old freshmen.

I got a lot more out of my education after taking a break. Did I figure our
what I wanted to do with life before I went back to school? Well I though so
and things changed over the years. Was it worth paying $10,000+ in loans
after these decisions that sent me down different career paths... NO! I'm
not saying some of those classes didn't help with helping me achieve my
goals, but as a whole I would have been better off without the debt.

There are career paths that don't require college degrees. Or maybe better
said, there are other ways to become more knowledgeable in your career path
without sitting in a class room. Books on web development are just as good
as anything because after looking at most Computer Science Degree programs
they don't provide the foundation I gained over years of trial and error.

Some of us are in unique position to say yeah skip college, while others
need a degree to compete in the market place.
