HMMM.... considering the two companies have so many competitive products, including Illustrator / Freehand, LiveMotion / Flash (for that matter Illustrator / Flash), and GoLive / Dreamweaver, it is understandable that Adobe would not want MM making products that look like theirs.
In all likelyhood no one was 'hurt' by the similarities in the interfaces. I am just not certain anyone should be able to patent an interface, it seems like that is taking intellectual property to a new extreme.
