thank you both! I know the area enough to be able to do a quick compare and contrast between say Bonny Doon and Nob Hill and Berkeley, but the sort of thing I am looking for could *conceivably* turn up in any of them (tho I'd guess it's more unlikely in downtwn SF itself...)
