When I was living out in Portland, in the last few weeks I lived there, I
was moving all of the photos I had taken in 4 years of west coast adventures
from my apartment to storage.

While parked on the street near a friends house in a residential
neighborhood, someone broke in and stole all 3 bags of photos.

Months later, I got an envelope from the Portland police with 5 pieces of
unopened mail. The police had found my bags in a dumpster nearby, had taken
the mail out (since taking the mail was proof of a Federal crime), and
thrown the photos back into the dumpster.

I think I actually hate the police more for that than I do the original
thief.

Although I guess not really, since I would kneecap the thief, but not the
police.
