Actually, Bunning didn't pay hell. He had to miss a basketball game, I
admit, and he complained about that. And his reasoning behind the
fillibuster threat? "Unemployment benefits make people less likely to
go find a job". Ah yes, those pitiful lazy people who could easily
find a job in a recession if they just got off the couch.

Where is straight ticket voting allowed? You have to vote for
individual races in Oregon at least. I'd be curious.

I'm against term limits though. It is a crude and ineffective means
towards an end. If all we have in office is inexperienced politicians,
I'm afraid that lobbyists and unelected officials will have even
greater influence. Instead, lets deal with the real fundamental
problems. We've got too much money involved in the system and that
leaves representatives unresponsive to the voters. Get the money out
of the system, fundamentally reform campaign finance and lobbying, and
I think you'll see that we don't need term limits.
