Sure if it's a netbook or phone and use office programs on it. You still
need a real operating system for everything else.

I mean, this says a lot, sure it would hurt MS but would it really really
hurt them? If you could purchase MS Office for 50 bucks would you? I would,
they are going to loose ground here so they should do something!

>>> In fact, Microsoft could deal Google Apps a fatal blow by simply
lowering the price of Office. If Microsoft sold a discount bundle of Word,
Excel and Outlook for, say, $50 or so, forget it. Game over. Nobody would
even contemplate online apps. Microsoft could go ahead and charge a premium
for PowerPoint and all the rest, one at a time.

Come to think of it, even the new features of windows 7 are a pain sometimes
with open documents. I need to quickly switch to the document in questions,
the windows don't do this as well as a browser tab.

IF they made office tab based they would KILL the market!

SQL / Word / Excel etc... BAM right at your fingertips on your decktop!

While web based apps are futuristic, they still do not give you enough to
switch completely.

phpMyAdmin as example, that thing sucks!

http://aviary.com/ does make some cool online tools and fyi all free now.

Who knows, it may be a web based world soon enough. I still need windows or
OS-X for the foreseeable future and so does everyone else, unless this is a
second system.
