That's sort of what the original system was designed to be like...except it
was still just the rich folks.  They would have real jobs and come in to do
the business of the nation, the go back to their real jobs.  It's the idea
of the citizen statesmen instead of the career politician.

I sometimes wonder if we called normal people to Congress like we do for
jury duty, then send them home at the end of the session, how much worse
could it be?

Heck, monkeys pressing random buttons could do as consistently bad.

They _aren't_ getting it wrong. They are doing exactly what they are trying
to do. We just keep putting people without our interests even remotely on
their radar into office.
