I think you would feel accomplishment with any website development work you
do, it might not be earth shattering development but you still continue to
learn new tricks.

I look at it like this...

Everyone needs a website developer, just like they need a lawyer, or a
construction handyman when something arises.

In case 1, they may not have the budgets that larger companies have to work
with, but they still need to run their business. Many need a website, they
need a lawyer looking over a document or file some papers from time to time,
and they need something built or fixed here and there.

Group 1 might not need all the bells and whistles in their website that make
you feel proud to create, but in the end, you can help more businesses with
their online identities, vs group 2 and that's gratifying in itself.

The money is good on both sides, but benifits are better in group 2. Group 2
also is where I would classify website development firms. They could be
working on websites in either group 1 or group 2 which may be something of
more interest for your ideal employment.

I'll stick with group 1, growing my customer base, and having fun working
from home until such time where I have too much work for myself and need to
open an office, and hire employees.
