I've been having this same conversation w/ some friends of mine who wants 
to give out CD-Rs as wedding favors for their respective wedding.  (I.E. 
copy a bunch of songs onto a CD-R and make up 100 or so CDs).

  It may not be for profit, but that doesn't fall under fair use either.
  The law is not intended for 'copy as you wish'...
  Copying it a few times is okay.  Copying it 100 times is not okay.  ( The 
likely hood of getting caught for 100 is slim, to none, but... )
  I think it's ~$350,000 fine per incident. ( But IANAL )
