Rep. Nathan Deal (R-Georgia) introduces a bill to deny citizenship to the children of undocumented immigrants born in the United States.
http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h1868/show Thus far he's gotten 90 cosponsors, all Republicans of course, on the measure. The one niggling little problem? The damn Constitution. The 14th Amendment saying: " All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." How can people say they want to have judges that "uphold the Constitution" and then do something to blatantly in the face of the plain wording of that very same document?
